CureCP is excited to be a patient partner in a recent cerebral palsy study application to the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Your input was critical to helping shape the study questions for this observational study of lower limb interventions. You can read the abstract for the study submission on site. This 18 center study has the potential to significant change the evidence base for lower limb surgeries and provide much needed guidance to parents and patients.

UT - Houston PI – Dr. Charles Cox

This is a bone marrow derived stem cell and cord blood stem cell trail for CP patients ranging from ages 2-10. Estimated enrollment is 30 patients. As of January 2016, this trial is still open.

Duke PI - Dr. Cotton

This is a pilot study to test feasibility of collection, preparation and infusion of a baby's own (autologous)umbilical cord blood in the first 14 days after birth if the baby is born with signs of brain injury. Enrollment is 25 patients ages up to 14 days.

Duke PI - Dr. Kurtzberg

This is a cord blood stem cell study for spastic CP patients. They will get a single injection of cord blood stem cells and be monitored. Enrollment is 120 patients ages 12 months to age 6.

MCG PI - Dr. Carroll

The purpose of this study is to test the safety and effectiveness of a cord blood infusion in children who have motor disability due to cerebral palsy (CP). The subjects will be children whose parents have saved their infant's cord blood, who have non-progressive motor disability, and whose parents intend to have a cord blood infusion. Enrollment is 40 patients from 12 months to age 12.
